photo above: our little home in the country
For years now, Joel and I have been hopping from place to place, living here and there. We have lived on our own, we have lived with parents, and we have lived with friends. The journey was all leading up to our dream home, but we had to find it. We had to get on the same page, we had to figure out what we wanted, and we had to chase after it. Over the last 3 and a half years of marriage, we have loved where we were, hated where we were, but most importantly, we have dreamed. We dreamed up where we both wanted to live, and we started to pull it all together.
At the beginning of fall of last year, we finally found it. Our dream home. It was the perfect mix of building our dream home and fixing up an old one. We knew we wanted to buy some land, and we knew we wanted to start from scratch, but building a home felt a little overwhelming.
I have been waiting to share our new little adventure until the perfect time, but I don't think there is a perfect time. When you begin a project like this one, you hope for the best, and you hope it will be done sooner rather than later. Patience is key, which we knew going in. After owning the home for 6 months now, we have one room finished. Yay! But we have a long way to go, and I am finally ready to open up and start sharing our home piece by piece. We are doing the complete renovation ourselves, with the help of family and friends, it's proved to be fun and exciting time. So here's to sharing each step of the way and documenting the process. Right now, we have no kitchen, barely a bathroom, and no place to curl up except our bedroom, and it couldn't be more perfect. We are happy to live a little unconventionally while we work on the home. It's all part of the fun and the journey!
Stay tuned for more home updates! I am excited to share as we go along and hopefully inspire some of you looking to fix up or build your own home!
